Communication and Outreach Intern/Volunteer


Location: Working from home

Duration: 6 months or more. Working hours may be flexible.

Remuneration: This is an unpaid position.

Expected Start date: Second week of April 2026

Position Overview


The role will involve creating multimedia content to raise awareness of the activities carried out by Journey of Hope-Nepal. The Communications and Outreach Intern/volunteer supports the Journey of Hope Nepal’s overall communications including researching and updating website, other social media, preparation and editing of documents, data collection, analysis and entry, and other administrative tasks. The intern/volunteer will also support preparations and logistics for special events, as well as provide on-site support during such events.

  1. Plan and implement Journey of Hope-Nepal’s communications and outreach activities that enhances its visibility including social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)

  2. Take initiatives with broader outreach that includes preparing and scheduling social media posts, writing newsletters, writing blog articles and drafting website content etc.

  3. Revise the Journey of Hope-Nepal’s website, digital media, multi-media projects, events, exhibits and campaigns to ensure public awareness about Journey of Hope-Nepal’s work.

This includes developing program materials and create content for social media and the Journey of Hope-Nepal website. This includes editing and formatting, creating visuals, synthesizing data.

  1. Assist the team with event planning and logistics, which may include schedule development, venue set-up, material preparation, supply procurement, and registration management.

  2. Produce and manage multimedia projects, graphic design, digital media. This includes editing short videos for donors, partners and for external communication

  3. Support partner organizations’ social media presence via mentoring and technical assistance

  4. Maintain effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders including partner organizations and others.

Qualifications


Journey of Hope-Nepal welcomes applications from interested candidates by March 31, 2026, who have:

  • A relevant educational degree

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Experience working on social media, in advertising or business management. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Strong attention to detail & organizational skills.

  • Knowledge of Nepal and its education system is a plus.

  • Proven ability to work remotely and independently

  • Applicant must be legally authorized to work in the United States

Fund Raising Intern or Volunteer

Position Overview


The internship is designed to give you concrete experience in research and fund raising for education sector within the international development programs. This internship is an opportunity to contribute to a meaningful cause and gain valuable experience in the nonprofit sector as well as in depth understanding of issues related to education opportunities for children from poor and marginalized communities. This internship will give you a real hands-on experience, as well as broader exposure to a nonprofit organization focused in education in underserved communities of Nepal. As a Fundraising Intern or Volunteer, you will have hands-on responsibility to design and implement a well-thought-out fund-raising program for Journey of Hope-Nepal.

Role and Responsibilities:

  1. Assist to develop and drive the organization’s fund-raising plan, cultivate strategic partnerships, and ensure the successful acquisition and management of donors. This includes identification of funding sources such as institutional, corporate and individual donors. Work with the team in setting and achieving fundraising targets

  2. Plan and implement fundraising events including identifying potential event venue, developing promotional strategies and materials (digital and print) to ensure strong visibility, coordinating logistics (guest list management, vendor negotiations, etc)

  3. Proactively research and analyze potential donors to understand their priorities and find areas of alignment with the organization’s mission and programs. This includes mapping and approaching businesses for sponsorships, donations, and support.

  4. Identify, pursue, funding opportunities and partnerships to support the long-term growth of Journey of Hope-Nepal.

  5. Lead the concept note and proposal development process. Contribute to the writing, review, and editing of proposals to ensure that they are of high quality. Ensure all proposals comply with donor guidelines.

  6. Design and scale a monthly donor acquisition program. This includes acquisition and retention strategies by using digital acquisition, direct mail acquisition, performance media,

  7. Plan and implement a digital promotion and outreach, including social media, newsletters, and local networks.

  8. Other activities as assigned.

Qualifications


  • Relevant education background

  • Understanding of the donor landscape, and experience in leading successful fundraising initiatives within a non-profit

  • Experience leading donor acquisition and retention in fundraising programs.

  • Familiarity with digital marketing and donor acquisition and evolving new marketing technique. This includes social media.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable reaching out to businesses, donors and sponsors.

  • Strong writing skills (for promotional materials, sponsorship requests, donor communication).

  • Knowledge of Nepal and its education system is a plus.

  • Proven ability to work remotely and independently

  • Applicant must be legally authorized to work in the United States
